Coral Reef Restoration
This 1-minute educational video provided by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) explains the coral reef crisis and how coral reef restoration is used as a strategy to improve the ecosystem.
We are thrilled to begin a sponsorship relationship with Coral Restoration Foundation™. Running from Miami to Key West lies Florida’s Coral Reef. It is the third largest barrier reef in the world and the only barrier coral reef in the continental United States. Corals in this area are listed as “Critically Endangered” and the reef is in crisis.
Coral reefs are home to a quarter of all marine life. Climate change and human activity have destroyed 50% of coral reefs, and they could be gone within 30 years. Coral reef restoration is part of the immediate intervention needed to help recover these important underwater habitats.
As a science-based educational enrichment service in South Florida, we feel a responsibility to do our part in helping our ocean life. We are happy to donate a percentage of our sales to Coral Restoration Foundation™. After each in-school field trip, teachers receive a printed “Thank you!” certificate for the donation we make on behalf of their schools. A digital copy of the certificate may be shared with students and their families.
